This year we have selected “A Soldier’s Child Family to Family Christmas” to be our office Christmas charity.  From their web-site (www.asoldierschild.org):

A Soldier’s Child started its Family to Family Christmas program to give back to the families of our servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much.  Lost in the busyness of the Christmas season are the children of those who serve – who will wake up Christmas morning missing mom or dad and perhaps not understanding why they can’t be there.  With your help, hundreds of young children from nearby Ft. Campbell, whose parent is currently deployed overseas, might have a reason to smile when they wake on Christmas day.

They have families with one and families with as many as six children available for sponsorship.  The goal is for each child in the family to receive 3-4 gifts with an overall value of $40 or more per child.  They have compiled a list of suggested gift items for various age groups, which we have in the business center.  Many families have also provided a “wish list” for each child.

We would like to get an idea of how many of you are willing to participate this year.  The number of people showing interest will determine the size of the family we can help.  If you are willing to help provide gifts for a soldier’s family, please let us know by Monday, November 14, so that we can choose a family and get started.

I will make a sign-up sheet after the family is chosen, and you can either purchase an item to bring in off the list, or donate money or gift cards, and PPEC can purchase the item for you.  If you or your company would like to sponsor one of the children in the family and purchase all of that particular child’s gifts, that would be great as well.

All items or donations must be received here at the office by Friday, December 9.  I will deliver them to the drop-off location on Saturday, December 10.

A Soldier’s Child encourages you to include a personal note to the recipient family.  It would be a great encouragement if they received a note of thanks for their sacrifice from each person that helps.
